High Fructose Corn Syrup aka Corn Sugar

If you've been watching the news lately you know two things.  One, there's an election coming up. And two, high fructose corn syrup is the new ebola.  There's been a lot of media coverage  about a study done by Princeton University ..."that has demonstrated that all sweeteners are not equal when it comes to weight gain: Rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when their overall caloric intake was the same."  You can bet your elastic waistband that the press was all over this.  Finally, a simple answer to why Americans are fat and obesity numbers are on the rise.  It's all because of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS.)

Okay, I've got a bit of housekeeping to do.  The FTC has issued new guidelines for bloggers.  And when I say guidelines, I mean you can get fined or thrown in jail if you don't adhere to them.  I've always disclosed when a publisher sent me a free book or product to review.  I've let you all know that I worked for Whole Foods where I also continue to shop.  So I'm in compliance but in the future you'll be seeing the following icons when relevant at the end of each blog post.

Yes, cake please! Sorry that comedy bit still completely cracks me up. I think the alternate title for this blog post could be "Too Lazy to go to the Store Coffee Cake."  But that seemed really awkward so I just went with coffee cake.  It was sunday morning, I wanted something soft sweet and delicious but I didn't want to get out of my jammies.  For the record, I never want to get out of my jammies but that is a whole different blog post for a different day.
